James J. Dunne, "Jim"

Passed away on October 30, 2024


James J. Dunne Sr.. Age 93 of St. John, Indiana formerly of Lansing, IL and Chicago, IL.  Passed away peacefully at home on October 30, 2024. Left to cherish his memory are 2 daughters: Mary (William) Spelde of Crete, IL. Kathleen (Terence) Tomera of Crown Point, IN., 3 sons: Edward (Donna) Dunne of Dyer, IN., James (Lynn) Dunne Jr. of McHenry, IL., and Patrick (Joanne) Dunne of Dyer, IN., 12 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.  He is preceded in death by beloved wife Kathleen (nee Henry), son Peter, and siblings Mary Durkin, Rev. Peter P. Dunne, Edward Dunne, and Joseph Dunne. 

James was a veteran of the U.S. Army – Korean War.  He was employed by Illinois and Indiana Bell, AT&T and Thomas and Betts. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.  He will be truly missed.  The family would like to thank Hospice of the Calumet Area.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of the Calumet Area or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.  

Visitation Thursday, November 7, 2024, from 3:00 – 8:00 pm at the Elmwood Funeral Chapel 11300 W. 97th LN. (1/2 block west of US 41/Wicker Ave. at 97th LN.)
