Sheila Bridgetta Durkin, age 69, of Chicago, IL passed away peacefully in hospice care on October 28, 2024. Sheila was the beloved daughter of the late William and Sabina (Barrett) Durkin; dear sister of Anne (late Phelim) Cafferty, Michael (Tammy) Durkin; dear sister-in-law of Mary Kay (Scanlon) Durkin. Preceded in death by brothers Thomas (Cherry), John, William, Martin, and sister-in-law Michelle. Cherished aunt of 12 nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews. Good friend and neighbor to many. Graduate of St. Francis DeSales Elementary School and High School and City Colleges of Chicago. Former catechist at Annunciata Parish, Chicago. Friends and family will gather for a Funeral Mass and Celebration of Life at 10AM on Saturday, November 2, 2024, DIRECTLY at Christ Our Light (St. Florian) Church, 13145 South Houston Avenue, Chicago, IL 60633. Interment of cremains at Holy Sepulchre Catholic Cemetery, Alsip, IL at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to Elmwood Chapel Chicago, IL 773-731-2749. www.elmwoodchapel.com.
