He served on the White Hawk Community board for many years and was an active volunteer of the City of Crown Point. You could find him taking tickets at car shows, serving food at numerous events or pouring wine for the ladies’ wine tasting. Canada, Michigan, Minnesota there were always lakes to explore and fish to be had. Steve loved traveling to Italy and could be found convincing Nonna to let him help her make pasta in the back of the restaurant kitchen. "I am sorry to hear of Steve’s passing away. From the obituary, it sounds like he had a very rewarding life! About 65 years ago, I remember a Christmas present Steve gave me (a car operated by batteries which changed into a convertible). I loved playing with it! Praying for God to comfort all of you through your grieving. Dave Laib, cousin."

"I knew Steve for over 30 years. Greatest person that knew so much about cars!! I bought 6 cars from him over the years for my children. He was a great conversationalist!!! You always went for a visit rather than a purchase. He was such a caring person he will be sorely missed. Sincere sympathy to the entire family of which he always talked in great lengths about!! Rest in peace and thank you for all your hard work!! "
