David C. Baez, (Ret. CPD), age 73, late of South Chicago passed away on April 5, 2024. Beloved husband of the late Josefina Baez. Loving father of Christopher (Delorez) Baez, Nick (Nancy) Baez and Jonathan Baez. Devoted grandfather of Nora Baez. Dear son of the late Ramon and late Ramona Baez. Dear brother of Ronald (Dilia), late Monica, late Ramon and late Alice. Fond uncle of many nieces and nephews. David was a retired patrolman for CPD.

"The lessons Dave taught me as a young, eager police officer in the mid 90's in "The Deuce" stayed with me through the next almost three decades of my life. Dave was truly one of the "good ones," and will be missed."

"As little boys we were best friends. You lived across the street from me on Burley Ave. We both attended Thorpe Elementary School. My childhood was a great one because I had the best friend in the world - you. Missed you terribly when you and your family moved away. Later on we would meet and you were a pretty good Tennis player - better then me but I wore the better looking Tennis outfits. You also became a Chicago Police Officer and we lost touch. Now I just found out that you recently passed away. We've lost a good man - a decent man and I've lost my best friend and my heart breaks. Rest in Peace and know that you really made a difference. I'll see down the road David. God Bless."
