Stephen R. Weir, 76, of Crown Point, IN, passed away on April 3, 2024. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Denise, three children: Courtney (Patrick) Adams, Brooke Weir, and Neil (Jenna) Weir; five grandchildren: Connor, Chloe, and Lily Adams, Jack and Vincent Weir, and his sister Charlene (Charles) Law. He was preceded in death by his parents: Orbia & Marion Weir, his brother Ron Weir, and sister Paula Weir.

Weir is a graduate of Chicago State University and retired from Arcelor Mittal Steel Corporation, Riverdale, IL. He is a Vietnam Veteran having served in Saigon during the Tet Offensive with the classification of Specialist E5 in the US Army.

He was a member of Chicago Gaelic Park and New York City's Irish Art Center. He enjoyed traveling around the world with his wife, attending concerts especially for his favorite band The Moody Blues, White Sox baseball games, and being with family.

Visitation Monday, April 8, 2024 from 3:00 – 8:00 pm at the Elmwood Funeral Chapel 11300 W. 97th LN. (1/2 block west of US 41/Wicker Ave. at 97th LN.) St. John.  Visitation and Funeral Services Tuesday, April 9, 2024 from 9:30 am until time of Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am DIRECTLY at St. Maria Goretti Church 500 Northgate, Dyer, IN.

In lieu of flowers you may choose to make a donation to the Paralyzed Veterans of America or St. Jude's Children Research Hospital.
