Jill M. Fritz of Schererville, IN was born on November 18, 1960, and passed away peacefully on February 28, 2024 at the age of 63. Jill was the dearest daughter to the late Loretta and Walter (Big ‘W’) Fritz. Jill is also proceeded in death by her beloved sister Judi Romans and beloved nephew Colin Fahrenkamp.
Jill was born on Chicago’s Eastside. She attended Annunciata grammar school and St. Francis de Sales High School. She had many jobs, but mostly cherished her career at Amoco Oil (downtown) and most recently Accel Entertainment. She was the ultimate sports fan. She loved all sports but mostly loved cheering on the next generation of athletes.
Jill was a loving sister, cousin, proud aunt, and loyal friend to many. She lived a full life guided by an incomparable inner light and a kind, generous heart. She was a walking entertainment center, spreading joy and laughter to anyone in her path. All who knew Jill counted on her costumes and decorations to make any event special. She was a party! She organized social events that were inclusive of hundreds of her closest friends…camping, rafting trips, Booze Cruises, birthday parties, Whirly Ball bashes, weddings and weekends at Wally World, etc. She even insisted on being a committee member for the latest and greatest event of all time, ‘Fritzapalooza!’. Jill’s retelling of stories from these events were hysterical, her laughter and animation made you feel like you were experiencing it all over again, or if you couldn’t attend, you felt like you were there.
A dear friend describes Jill best; “In the tapestry of life, certain threads shine brighter, weaving us closer together like a family. If you are lucky, you find that unique thread. The one that is comprised of the most giving heart, selfless care for others and dynamic loyalty.” Jill Fritz is that special thread in the tapestry of our lives. The thread that ties us all together.
True to Jill’s character, she did not dwell on her own challenges. She continued to work hard and enjoy social events. Jill does not want us to be sad, she is at peace. In Jill’s name, celebrate in the spirit of great friendship with your favorite Cast of Characters. Create a unique chemistry, hilarious comedy, and a special bond to last a lifetime.
Jill’s family respects her wish to have a private celebration of life. Thank you to all for giving her the ultimate celebration that she fully enjoyed, ‘Fritzapalooza!’. The love and energy of that event gave her great comfort at the end of her journey. While she will be missed, she will NEVER be forgotten!
