Roxanne Kovacevich 5/11/54 – 1/26/24

Roxanne “Sandy” Kovacevich, nee Cronovich, resident of Frankfort, Il and native of Detroit, MI passed away surrounded by her family. She is survived by her husband Paul, and children Christopher (Julie) and Lauren Gingell (Brandon), along with her grandsons, Dean and Liam Gingell. Sister of Georgia Somma (Rande) and Carla Kearney, dear sister-in-law of Petar and Michele Kovacevich, Valerie ( late Sam) Backo and Vel and Pam Kovacevich, brother in-law of Michael Raad, along with Teta of 12 nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents Charlie (Cedo) and Naida Cronovich and sister Debe Raad.

Roxanne was a retired Special Education Director, and devoted her professional life to being a teacher and administrator for special needs students. She was also an active member of many professional educational organizations.

She was a person of strong faith and devoted to her Serbian Orthodox Church. While in Detroit she sang with the Ravanica Church Choir, and in Chicago added her beautiful soprano voice to the Sloboda Choir. She was an especially tireless leader of the St. Archangel Michael Sunday School for years, served on the Church Board, and helped manage the church’s Narrow Path Bookstore. Roxanne had an infectious laugh and generous spirit.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 31, 2024 at Kurtz Memorial Chapel, 65 Old Frankfort Way, Frankfort, IL, 60423. from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with Pomen Service at 7:30 pm. Funeral service will be held directly at St. Archangel Michael Serbian Orthodox Church in Lansing, Il on Thursday, February 1, 2024 with Roxanne lying in state from 8:30 a.m. until the time of service at 9:00 a.m. with Very Reverend Aleksandar Savic, officiating, Interment will be at St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Cemetery in Libertyville. IL. Donations in Roxanne’s name can be made to St. Archangel Michael Serbian Orthodox Church or Sunday School in Lansing.
