Niko “Vanessa” Jewett Portes, age 27.  Late of Gary, Indiana formerly of Cedar Lake, Indiana.  Passed away tragically on November 27, 2023.  Vanessa is survived by parents Sheryl Ann (Ryan Darnell) Jewett and Leonel Portes; siblings: Anthony, Jacob, and Alexis; paternal ½ sisters: Marisol and Julia; aunts and uncles: Ron (Heather) Jewett Jr., Garry Jewett, Chuck (Aimee) Jewett, and Jason Darnell; grandparents Terry and Coleen Darnell; special nieces Francisca and Brenda; best friend Manny, and dog Bruce as well as many cousins and friends.  Preceded in death by grandparents Ron and Jean Jewett.  Vanessa was a graduate of Crown Point High School and enjoyed playing bingo, casinos, and hanging out with friends.  Vanessa was a CNA as well as a driver for Uber. 

Visitation Saturday, December 2, 2023 from 12:00 – 7:00 pm with a prayer service at 2:00 pm.  Funeral Services Sunday, December 3, 2023 at 11:00 am at the Elmwood Funeral Chapel – Cedar Lake 9931 Lincoln Plaza Way.  Interment German Methodist Cemetery.  For more information 219-374-9300
