Violet Dokich

Passed away on October 30, 2023


Violet V. Dokich.  Wife of the legendary musican Melvin E. Dokich passed away on October 30, 2023 at the age of 98.  Violet grew up in Chicago and worked several jobs before moving to California and opening up a Connie Shoe Store with her husband Mel.  Several years later they moved back to Illinois and opened a Fan Fare shoe store.  Ten years after her husband Mel passed Violet moved to Mesquite, Nevada and for 22 years enjoyed the great weather, bingo, video poker, and all of the friendships she made.  Violet suffered another loss when her dear friend Gordon passed.  Violet moved back to Illinois in 2018 and left behind her best friends Linda and Ray Noble.  Linda and Violet kept in touch all the way to the end.  Violet is survived by her children Melvin (Kathy) Dokich and Ralph Dokich; grandchildren: Kelly (Dan) LoConte, Michael Dokich, Carrie (Paul) Gilliam, and Steven Dokich; great grandchildren: Kayla, Megan, Emma, Jacob, Danny, Jack, and Faye; great great grandson Daxton; brother Rudy (Maria) Mudjer; sister in law Sharon Mudjer, as well as many nieces and nephews.  She is preceded in death by her siblings Al, Archie, and Steve Mudjer and sister Ann Sholtz.  Memorial Visitation Sunday, November 12, 2023 from 12:00 – 4:00 pm with a prayer service at 3:30 pm.  Inurnment St. Mary Cemetery, Tuesday, November 14, 2023 at 1:00 pm.  For more information 219-365-3474 or www.elmwoodchapel.com
