Ernest S. “Ernie” Leggero, age 79.  Lifelong of Calumet City, Illinois.  Passed away October 25, 2023.  Beloved husband of June (nee Galloway) for 59 years.  Loving father of Debbie (Brian) LaPorte.  Cherished grandfather of Dean and Vincent LaPorte.  Dearest brother of Tillie (late Tony) Toigo, John (Marge) Leggero, and the late Domenick (Joyce) Berta.  Dear brother in law of Judy (late Rich) Berendt and Sharon (late Harold) Brunski.  Fond uncle of many nieces and nephews.  Preceded in death by parents Flora (Domenick) Berta and Vitale Leggero.  Veteran of the U.S. Army – Vietnam War.  Ernie was a retired employee of Ashland Chemical and former employee of Wisconsin Steel.  He enjoyed golfing, fishing, and spending time with his grandchildren.  Ernie was the life of the party and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.  Visitation Saturday, November 4, 2023 from 9:00 am until time of Military Honors and Closing Prayers at 12:00 noon at the Elmwood Funeral Chapel 11300 W. 97th LN.
