The life of Vivian (Bibo)Waller- Rowland

Vivan (Bibo) Waller-Rowland died peacefully on October 25, 2023, at 8:15 a.m., surrounded by her husband (James Rowland) and grandchildren in her home filled with love.

Vivian was born on January 4, 1933; she was the baby girl of William Sherron and Elizabeth Mosby. She had six brothers and sisters William Jr (Bubba), Bernice (Neicy), Elmer-Lawrence (Sook), Thomas (Tuck), Dorothy (Dottie), Charles (Tit), and the baby girl Vivian (Bibo).

Vivian married Edward Windford Waller (1948-1962); they had two children: Edward Waller Jr and Leon Waller (Toy)

Vivian attended Wendell Phillips High School. After graduating, she attended cosmetology school.

She was an entrepreneur. After working with her Godmother for years, she opened her first hair salon, Vicky’s Beauty Salon, named after her niece. She owned that establishment for ten years.  Vivian had a lot of clients and had three beauticians. She worked simultaneously for the board of education as a Chef Cook. One of her clients was Mrs. Allen, the mother of a member of Earth Wind & Fire. Vicky’s Beauty Salon was a place to get your hair done and for family and friends to have fun. There was always a card game and an environment full of laughter. They had so much fun that her clients would have to return the next day to finish getting their hair done.

Vivian met James Rowland in 1962, and they dated until they were married on November 7, 1972. Vivian and J.B. would travel and play the slot machines. They visited Las Vegas, New Orleans, Mississippi, Texas, Arkansas, St. Louis, and Memphis.

When Vivian’s mother became ill, she closed up Vicky’s and opened a shop in her mom’s basement. Vivian cared for her mother until her death on March 10, 1989.  Vivian valued family. She believed in family first. There was nothing she wouldn’t do for her family. Vivian continued to work as a beautician until 2011.

Vivian attended the Apostolic Church of God, where she became a baptized member.

Vivian was preceded in death by her parents, William Sherron and Elizabeth Mosby, her six siblings, and her two sons (Edward Waller Jr and Leon Waller Sr.).

Leaving to mourn her passing is her husband, James Rowland (50 years), four grandchildren: Michelle (Clemente) Edwards, Leon (Jill) Waller Jr., Edward (Monique) Waller III, and James Rolland Waller—a great-niece Gwen, her God-daughter Patty (Eric) Owen, fifteen great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and many other family members and friends.
