Maria C. Ruiz, “Chela”, age 84, late of South Chicago passed away on August 26, 2023. Beloved daughter of the late John and late Mary Ruiz. Loving sister of late Luis (late Eva) Ruiz, Rita (late Gilberto) Mendez, Daniel (Gertrude) Ruiz, late Carlos (late Amy) Ruiz, late Juanito Ruiz, Joseph (Benilda) Ruiz, John Henry (Mary Lou) Ruiz, Peter (late Irma) Ruiz and Mary (Hector) Caballero. Devoted aunt, great-aunt and great-great-aunt of many nieces and nephews. Chela was a longtime dedicated active parishioner at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church located in South Chicago and a realtor with Atlas Realty for many years. She was an established painter, sculptor, upholsterer, seamstress and woodworker who will be missed by all who knew her.  Visitation Wednesday, August 30, 2023, from 9:00 a.m. until time of Mass of Christain Burial at 10:00 a.m.  DIRECTLY at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church 3200 East 91stStreet Chicago, Il 60617. A private family inurnment will take place at a later date at St. Mary Cemetery located in Evergreen Park, IL. "Chela was a sweet and loving lady. We were both in the first graduation class from OLG in 1953. We were lifelong friends. We shared many good times at OLG. We were school, Neiborhood and family friends. She was an icon at the church and Neiborhood. She will be greatly missed by family and friends. I was fortunate to know Chela all of our lives. "
