Rev. Kilian M. Knittel

Passed away on April 30, 2023


Father Kilian Knittel. In the early hours of Sunday, God, Our Father called Father Knittel home. Father Knittel was the beloved son of the late Elsie (Mathaus) & Kilian Knittel. A brother of Bernadette (Edward) Andersen & the late Sister Margaret Mary Knittel, R.S.M.  A proud uncle of six, Edward (Visi) Andersen, Katherine (Jeffrey) Tolomeo, Barbara Andersen, Ellen (Jon) Bailey, Julie (Hemang) Rana, & David (Margaret) Andersen as well as a proud granduncle to 15. After ordination, Father Knittel served as an associate pastor at Resurrection; St. Louis de Montfort; St. Edward; Our Lady of the Wayside; St. John the Baptist; and St. Joseph. He was pastor of St. Justin Martyr and St. Columba. In his retirement, Father Knittel provided ministerial services at St. Mary the Immaculate Conception in Indiana.

Visitation Wednesday, May 3, 2023 from 3:00 to 6:00 pm at the Elmwood Chapel 11200 S. Ewing Ave. Chicago.  Visitation and Funeral Services Thursday, May 4, 2023 at St. John of the Cross Catholic Church (5005 Wolf Road, Western Springs, IL. 60558) where Fr. Kilian will Lie in State from 10:00 am until time of Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am.  Interment Mt.
