Passed away on October 25, 2022

Linda Islas, (nee Mendiola), age 69, late of Hegewisch and formerly of South Chicago passed away on October 25, 2022. Beloved wife of Robert Islas, Sr. for 47 years. Loving mother of Antoinette “Toni” Islas and Robert (Surgey) Islas, Jr. Devoted grandmother of Briana, Michael, Ava, Elena, Amelia and Catalina. Dear daughter of the late Virginia Hernandez (Mendiola). Dearest sister of Hilda (Tim) Smolinski and the late Joseph Hernandez. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Loving and Special “Fur Grandma” of Shadow and Rizzo. Linda was a long-time employee of First Savings Bank of Hegewisch. Linda loved taking care of her family, cooking, watching television (Chicago PD and her Soap Operas) and will be missed by all who knew her. Visitation Sunday, October 30, 2022, from 1-8 p.m. Funeral Monday, October 31, 2022, at 9:00 a.m. from the Elmwood Chapel 11200 S. Ewing Ave. Chicago, IL 60617 to Our Lady of Guadalupe Church.
