Marie Lucienne Briette, “Man Cienne”, age 102, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday April 20, 2022.  She died at home, surrounded lovingly by her children.  Man Cienne was born on June 12, 1919 in Haiti to her late parents Albert and Lucie Paret.  She was born and raised in Cap Haitien, Haiti and dedicated her life to taking care of her family.  She and her husband of 50 years, emigrated from Haiti to Chicago in 1976.  Man Cienne was a homemaker who prided herself on caring for others, cooking from scratch and she was an accomplished seamstress.
Her husband, Toussaint Andre Briette, preceded her in death in 1999. She is survived by her 6 children: Ghislaine Briette, Lionel Briette, Garry (Adline) Briette, Myrtha Briette, Maryse Briette and Elsie Briette. Devoted grandmother of Gregory (Crystal) Briette, Jean David Briette, Stephane (Angelica) Briette, Djenane Briette, Charleen (Daniel) Merriam, Natalie LeBlanc, Cassandra LeBlanc and Dorly (Myriam) Damier. Cherished great-grandmother of Ayana, Sophia, Kayla, Matthew, Isaac, Jonathan, Alyssa, Olivia, Kobe, Jalen, Kourtni and Daniela. 
Three siblings preceded her in death.  The only living sibling is Raymond Jean Jacques (Hesione).  Cherished nieces and nephew; Ketely LaBorde, Denray and Ann-Myra Jean Jacques.
Visitation Saturday, April 30, 2022, from 9:00 AM until time of Mass at 10:30 AM at St. Josephine Bakhita Church 2132 East 72nd Street Chicago, IL 60649. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery Mausoleum Calumet City, IL. Arrangements entrusted to Elmwood Chapel Chicago, IL.
