Stanley J. “Stash” Zamojski, Jr., age 79. Late of Cedar Lake, Indiana, formerly of Dyer and South Chicago. Passed away March 13, 2022. Beloved husband of Diane (nee Lyk) for 51 years. Loving father of Douglas (Deidre) Zamojski, Daniel (Teresa) Zamojski, and Melissa (Roy) Verdin. Cherished grandpa of Kyla, Max, and Shawn Zamojski. Brother of Eve, John, and Ann. Beloved “Dog Dad” of Minnie. Veteran US Army. Lifelong friend of Ed Zielke and Don VanCuren.
Stan grew up in South Chicago. He was drafted by Uncle Sam in 1964 where he served as a Military Policeman. After the army, he attended community college and then began his career as an Electrical Designer for several engineering firms in the Chicago area. He made a career change late in life and retired from WR Grace in 2009, along with his wife Diane. In retirement they enjoyed traveling, with favorite locations being California and Hawaii.
As the grandkids got older, family vacations became the priority. He was most proud of the enjoyable time he spent with his family on vacations, weekends, and day trips to zoos, aquariums, and museums across the country, as well as Disney World, Universal Studios and SeaWorld. Stan enjoyed keeping up with world news, working outside and around the house, and tinkering in his garage. He also greatly enjoyed going fishing with all 3 of his grandchildren.
Stan’s love of fishing was instilled in his kids at an early age as they went on fishing trips every chance they could. In recent years, he spent his fishing days with the grandkids fishing for bluegill at local parks. Stan was also a lifelong Chicago White Sox fan. He enjoyed watching games with his family and was so excited seeing them win the World Series in 2005.
Stan will always be remembered as the most loving, honorable, compassionate, funny, understanding husband/dad/grandpa to his family. He was always there for his family, no matter what the situation, supporting us, mentoring us, loving us.
A celebration of Stan’s life will be held in the summer, with the date TBD. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Disabled American Veterans (DAV) or Project Love Food Pantry in Cedar Lake, (or Charity of your choice).
