"Bernie Skiba and Brother Brian convinced me to be part of Annunciata’s Parish Council back in the 1980’s. My late wife, Rita was a Eucharistic minister and taught CCD classes, my children were altar servers. Bernie and I attended seminar and workshops with other Council members to help the parish grow. We had the opportunity to meet Francis Cardinal George the days before he was elevated from Archbishop. Bernie commissioned Rita and I to complete a cross stitch sampler as a gift for daughter Sharon’s wedding, I saw her frequently as her husband Al and I were both ushers at the noon mass. We helped choose a new Pastor, new principal and helped initiate the celebration for Our Lady of Guadalupe at Annunciata as more Hispanic parishioners attended mass. Bernie Skiba and family were there always at the ready to help. God bless Bernie and the entire Skiba family. She was a person to remember. I was proud to call her my friend. "
