Edward Waller, Jr.

Passed away on April 8, 2021

The life of Edward Waller Jr began on March 3, 1949, in Chicago, Illinois. He was one of two children (Edward Wilford Waller, biological parent) raised in a household filled with love and support by Vivian and step-father James Rowland. He learned from an early age the importance of family. Edward graduated from Hyde Park High School in 1966. After high school, he worked for Illinois Bell until being drafted by the U.S. Army. Edward served full-time from March 1969 to September 1970. In Vietnam, Edward was a Pole Lineman. He continued his service in the Army Reserve until March 1975. During his time in the Army, he received the following medals: National Defense Service, Vietnam Service, and Vietnam Campaign. After his honorable discharge, he worked for the City of Chicago Traffic Control until 1985. He later worked for Turtle Wax. On April 1, 1977, he married Guyletta Patch. They were together for two years (1979). This union was blessed with one child: Edwards Waller III. He later met Ruby Mae Arterberry in 1980. They were blessed with a son James Roland Waller. Our father had a big heart and loved his family. Especially his momma. There wasn’t anything he wouldn’t do for her. He loved cooking exotic dishes, drawing, and doing DIY projects. Dad was always bringing something home to create. He loved kids and making instruments for them. On many occasions, you will see him making drums and other instruments for his great-nieces and nephews. Our father loved junk food, and his favorite was soft chew chocolate-chip cookies. Dad had a great sense of humor and an outgoing personality. No matter where he went, he would talk to just about anyone. Edward Waller Jr. departed this life on April 8, 2021. He was preceded in death by his brother Leon Waller Sr. and biological parent Edward Wilford Waller. Edward leaves to rejoice in his memory his two children Edward (Monique) Waller III and James Roland (Mari) Waller, His mother, Vivian Rowland, and step-father James Rowland, Aunt Dorothy, Pat (Eric) Owens-Miles (little sister), Cousin Irene, Nephew Leon (Jill) Waller Jr., Niece Michelle (Clemente) Edwards: three grandchildren: Tiana, DaMaryo, and Breelyn.
