Joseph C. Ivancich Sr. “Joe I”, age 85.  Late of Schererville, In. Formerly of South Chicago “Vets Park”. Passed away on March 15, 2021. Beloved husband of Mary Jane (nee Seymour) for 66 years. Loving father of Joseph (Kathleen) Ivancich, Dina Ivancich, and the late Edward Ivancich. Cherished PaPa of Kristen (Brennan) Blake, Katelynn (Rico) Ramos, and Samantha Ivancich. Dearest great-grandfather of Brooklyn, Nathan, Josiah, and Bradley. Fond uncle of many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents John and Francis, and siblings John, Ed, and Mary. Retired plant manager for Chicago Steel and Wire after 50 years. “Joe I” will be remembered for his passion for playing sports, cooking/baking, whistling to his favorite birds, and most importantly spending time with family.  Visitation will take place on Friday, March 19, 2021 from 2:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. with a Service at 7:00 p.m. at the Elmwood Funeral Chapel 11300 W. 97th LN. "We will remember Joe I for the many trips to the corner stores he would take us on, his apple slices and platters for parties, and the many laughs in the backyards and on the porches. Til this day, I have a custom frame that he designed and built for me that hangs in my home and I think about him every time I see it. Our thoughts are with the entire Ivancich family... we hope that all these guys are having a party somewhere together! "
