Passed away on March 2, 2021


Carmen Tovar,  age 71, late of the East Side entered into the house of her heavenly Father on Tuesday, March 2, 2021.

She is survived by her mother, Carmen B. Tovar; daughter, Veronica (Pedro) Gutierrez; two sons, Robert A. and Michael A. Ruiz; four grandchildren: Jessica and Lily Ruiz and Daniel and Vanessa Gutierrez; five siblings: Grace Gonzalez, Jimmy (Lydia) Tovar, Susan (Alfredo) Franco, Tony (Raquel) Tovar and Peter Tovar; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of dear friends.

 Preceded in death by her father, Pedro Tovar and brother Frank Tovar.

Carmen was born and raised in South Chicago. She was proudly retired as a receptionist at several dental offices. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.

 Visitation on Monday, March 8, 2021 from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Elmwood Chapel 11200 S. Ewing Ave. Chicago, IL 60617. Funeral service Tuesday, March 9, 2021 at  9:15 a.m. from Elmwood Chapel followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m.  at  Our Lady of Guadalupe Church 3200 E. 91st Street, Chicago, IL 60617. Burial will be private. Both face mask and social distancing will be required at each. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the family.
