Raymond Valdivia, Sr. “Sugar Ray”, age 68 late of South Chicago passed away on February 26, 2021. Ray was born on December 29, 1952. He is preceded in death by his parents Benjamin and Hazel Valdivia and brother’s; William and Robert "Val" Valdivia. Ray is survived by his loving siblings; Benjamin (Angie), Annie (Benito) Barrera and Barbara (Ruben) Garcia. He is the loving father of Ray (Monica), Kelly (Erin) and Michael. Grandfather of Melissa, Elijah, Elliana and Abigail. Ray was a retired employee of 25 years from Tootsie Roll. He was a big fan of Chicago sports but his true love was basketball and was always proud to share his expertise of coaching Sullivan Elementary School that brought them a 3-Time Championship. Memorial Visitation Friday, March 5, 2021 from 2-9 p.m. at the Elmwood Chapel 11200 S. Ewing Ave. Chicago, IL 60617. Memorial Mass Saturday, March 6, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. DIRECTLY at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church 3200 East 91st Street Chicago, IL 60617. Inurnment to follow at St. Mary Cemetery Evergreen Park, IL. "My sincere condolence to the Valdivia family. Ray was a big part of my childhood growing up in Bush. Had so many good times with him. I always loved watching him play basketball in the backyard and at the Neighborhood House. RIP Ray hope to see you on the other side one day."
