William R. Schmidt, age 75. Late of the East Side. Passed away on February 17, 2021. Beloved husband of Maureen (nee Howell) for 50 years. Loving father of Carol (Tony) Khoury and William Schmidt. Devoted grandfather of Connor, Gavin, Skylar, Frederick, and Logan. Dearest brother of late Frederick (late Mary Lou) Schmidt. Also survived by many caring sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, and nephews. Bill was a retired educator for Archdiocese of Chicago and longtime active parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Church. He also coached for the East Side Little League and girls’ softball. Funeral Services Monday, February 22, 2021 DIRECTLY at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church 2447 Putham st., Lake Station, IN. 46405 with a visitation from 10:00 a.m. until time of Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery.
