While living in South Chicago, our mom became an avid bingo player. She enjoyed following bingos by going to the different churches seven days a week. Eventually, going to the bingo centers were replaced by casinos. Mom loved traveling to Las Vegas so much that she made several trips a year to the “Gambling Capital of the World”. Mariachi music was her favorite. She loved listening to and dancing, anytime, with the sounds of the mariachi. And of course, our mom was a great cook/baker. Her family always enjoyed her home cooked meals (especially the tamales) and when she would bake her lemon meringue pies.
