Janet M. Olesek, 73 of Cedar Lake, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, November 1, 2020. Janet was born August 7, 1947 in East Chicago, Indiana.  She was married to Richard J. Olesek on April 18, 1970.  She attended Roosevelt High School, class of 1965.

Janet worked at Purdue Calumet and Challenger Learning Center until she retired in 2013.  In retirement she loved to travel, work in her garden, attend exercise class, meet friends for lunch, and spend as much time with her children and her grandson who was the light of her life. 

She is survived by her daughter, Jodi Olesek; son Jason Olesek; grandson Justin Olesek; sister-in-law, Pam Engelhart; numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard J. Olesek; parents, Leo Sr and Helen (Czapla) Engelhart; and brother, Leo Engelhart Jr.

Visitation will be on Friday, November 6, 2020 from 2:00-9:00 p.m.  at Elmwood Funeral Chapel & Crematory 9931 Lincoln Plaza Way, Cedar Lake, IN  46303. Funeral services will be at 7:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home. 219-374-9300.
