Israel Garcia, (CFD), “Izzy”, age 59, late of the East Side passed away on September 28, 2020. Beloved husband of Dora Garcia (nee Chavez) (Tapia) for 16 years. Loving father of Christopher (Cindy) Garcia, Krystina (Jared Wiser) Garcia and Daniel (Fiancé Jerikka Malabunga) Tapia. Cherished grandfather of Joseph Wiser and Oliver Garcia. Dear son of Israel and late Esther Garcia. Dearest brother of San Juana (Frank) Arenas, Juan (Nancy) Garcia and Esther (Martin) Gacek. Fond son-in-law of the late Elisa and late Lazaro Chavez. Brother-in-law of Leonsa Chavez and Toni Olivia (Jose) Medina. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Izzy was a Chicago Fire Department Commander for the Paramedic Division with 27 years of dedicated service. Member of Trinity Knights of Columbus Council and the East Side Athletic Club. Visitation Monday, October 5, 2020 from 3-9 p.m. Funeral services Tuesday, October 6, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. from the Elmwood Chapel 11200 S. Ewing Ave. Chicago to Church of the Annunciata. "Our Lord was looking to fill a vacancy in the Heavenly Paramedic Division , the most rigorous requirement was that he have an enormous heart to match the helping love he spread on earth. Izzy fit the bill, and was called home to the place in paradise that he prepares for us. He now serves on The CFD: Celestial Fire Department. Rest easy until we meet again. Amén "
