Passed away on September 3, 2020


Benjamin “Benjie” Velasco Jr., age 62.  Lifelong of South Chicago.  Beloved son of Eloise (nee Medrano) and the late Benjamin Velasco Sr.  Loving brother of Blanche Quinones, Linda (Roberto) Guerrero, and Esther (late Isaac “Cha”) Ordonez.  Cherished uncle of Victor, Robert, Joseph Quinones, Cynthia (Alejandro) Heredia, Mark (Christina), Michael Velasco, Raquel (Ryan) Silva, Benjamin III, Carlos (Candida) Velasco and Michelle (Fabian) Martinez. Fond great uncle of 16 nieces and nephews and great-great uncle of 1.  Benjie enjoyed playing baseball and basketball as a youth and watching Novela’s with his mom. He was well known at Ben’s newsstand with his mom and was an avid Chicago White Sox and Bear fan. Benji was a dear friend to many that knew him and will be dearly missed.  Visitation Thursday 2-9 pm. Funeral Services Friday, September 11, 2020 at 11:15 am from the Elmwood Chapel 11200 S. Ewing Ave. Chicago to Our Lady of Guadalupe Church.  Mass of Christian Burial 12:00 noon.  Interment Holy Cross Cemetery.  Please omit flowers.  For more information 773-731-2749

"Dear friends and family: I have not seen Benjie in about a year.In 1976 we played baseball at Bessemer Park .He was a pitching star with Bob Munguia and Juan Herrera in the Bessemer. Benjie had a lot of God given talent.Now God has called him home.My deepest condolences to his Mother,sisters and the rest of the family.RIP Benjie till we meet again."
