Omar Ruiz, age 40, late of Whiting, IN, passed away July 22, 2020.  Cherished father of Alexandra Ruiz.  Devoted son of Gilberto Sr. and Teresa (nee Maciel) Ruiz.  Beloved grandson of Ana (late Jorge) Ruiz and the late Rafael (late Josefina) Maciel.  Amazing big brother of Jorge Ruiz, Erica (Agustin) Sosa and Gilberto “Jr.” Ruiz Jr.  Loving uncle of Erica Anahi Sosa, Maricela Sosa and Agustin Sosa Jr.  Dear nephew and cousin of many.  Omar was an avid Chicago Cubs fan, enjoyed fishing and coached softball but his true love was his daughter and spending time with family.  Visitation Saturday 4-8pm and Sunday 1-8pm. (Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, social distancing and attendance guidelines set forth by federal, state and local health departments will be followed.)  Funeral services Monday, August 3, 2020  8:15am prayers from Elmwood Chapel, 11200 S. Ewing Ave., Chicago to Our Lady of Guadalupe Church.  Mass 9am. (Maximum of 50 people may attend and face coverings are required.)  Interment Mt.
