Dawn M. Rodriguez, (nee Simmons), “NaNa”, age 53, late of Hammond, IN and formerly of the South Side of Chicago passed away on June 29, 2020. Loving mother of Juan Rodriguez, Pamela (Marcial) Carranza-Martinez and Joseph Rodriguez. Devoted NaNa of Jimmy, Jorge and Jayson. Dear daughter of Leona and the late Rufus Simmons. Dearest sister of twin Janet Benavides. Fond aunt of many nieces and nephews. Dawn attended Olive Harvey College, St Augustine College and earned her “Master’s Degree” in Early Childhood Development from Kaplan University. She was employed by Catholic Charities for 25 years and currently was a “PEL Teacher” at the Illinois Action for Children, as well as a consultant for “Paparazzi Jewelry”. Visitation Thursday, July 2, 2020 from 2-9 p.m. Funeral service Friday, July 3, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at the Elmwood Chapel 11200 S. Ewing Ave. Chicago, IL 60617. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery.
