Mabel Marie Macis

Passed away on May 15, 2020

M. Marie Macis, 73, of Cedar Lake, Indiana was born November 1, 1946 and passed from this life to the next on Friday, May 15 at 6:10 P.M. Preceded in death by her husband, Clement G. Macis, only 25 days before, Marie is survived by her six children, nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Her children from oldest to youngest are Klement Macis, Diana Ropp, Sheila Macis, Bradford Macis, Quentin Macis and Candice Macis.

Growing up in a small town in central Illinois, Marie took many a trip with her family “downstate” to visit loved ones. In her large extended, close-knit Lithuanian family, Marie was especially close to her sister, Carol, who is one year her senior. After graduating high school, Marie and Carol moved from Kincaid to Chicago to enjoy all the city has to offer. There, Marie met Clement and shortly after, they started their life and family together.

Throughout her life, Marie enjoyed helping others and giving what she could to any one who asked. Baking pies for leisure and competition, taking fitness classes and babysitting her grandchildren were some of her past times. Always filled with the Christmas spirit, Marie looked forward to Christmas all year round and made it a point to make the holiday extra special for the ones she loved.

Those who knew Marie well are very saddened by her premature departure due to Cancer, and she will be greatly missed. Marie is a gentle, loyal soul who was always there for her family through thick and thin. May she rest in peace.

Visitation Thursday, May 21, 2020 from 10:00 am until time of closing prayers at 11:30 am at the Elmwood Funeral Chapel 9931 Lincoln Plaza Way (1/2 block south of 133^rd Ave. across from the library at Lincoln Plaza Way). processing to Holy Name Catholic Church.
