"I was privileged and honored to be the son-in-law of José Garcia for more than 46 years. He was born in Chicago in 1929 and that is where he came to rest. He was a wonderfully warm person who could make anyone smile and join in his laughter. Pop had just celebrated his 91st birthday on April 25th of this year. In his youth he was a disciplined athlete who participated in Golden Gloves boxing tournaments. He inspired everyone around him to want to exercise. I know he changed my life in knowing him. I will always remember Pop as a boxer who went the distance. He will be dearly missed. José Berlanga "
