Jose S. Ruiz, “Cheo”, age 91, late of Burnham, IL and formerly of South Chicago passed away on January 27, 2020. Beloved husband of Leonides for 70 years. Loving father of Maria (Angel) Jimenez, Gladys (Luis) Rivera, Pastor Jose (Anne) Ruiz and Pastor Luis (Pastor Lisa) Ruiz. Devoted grandfather of Elizabeth (Ludwig) Balek, Michele (Brian) Lechtenberg, Michael Jimenez, Luis (Michelle) Rivera, Melissa (Craig) DeCarlo, Joey (Erica) Ruiz, Stacia Ruiz, Erica (Tom) Warrington, Luis (Manuela) Ruiz, Jr., Jonathan Wandrei, Sarah Ruiz and Isabella Ruiz. Cherished great-grandfather of Marcus, Ava, Logan, Carter, Twins Lily and Ryan, Maxwell, Marc, Landon, Jose Angel, Jr., Victoria, Grace and Natalya. Dear son of the late Pedro and late Maria Ruiz. Dearest brother of late Evaristo Ruiz, late Luisa Hilerio and late Monserate Santos. Fond uncle of many nieces and nephews. Retired employee of U. S. Steel South Works. Longtime active member of South Chicago Pentecostal Church of God. He was a graduate of Instituto Ebenzer with Honors; Elder and Lifetime Honorary Deacon, Teacher, Director of Men’s Ministry as well as many other positions in the church.
