Peter Castro Sandoval, age 86, lifelong of South Chicago passed away on December 21, 2019. Beloved husband of Olivia for 64 years. Loving father of Jennie (Edward) Dobry, Antonio (Virginia) Sandoval, Debra Sandoval Gonzalez and Kathryn (Gerard) Skaro-Sandoval. Devoted grandfather of James Jr. (Anel) Solorio, late Mark Solorio, Danielle (Frank) Beyer, Vincent Sandoval, Manuel Gonzalez III, Jillian Gonzalez, Alyssa (Michael) Kearney, Steve Stremplewski, Stephanie Stremplewski, Melissa Albert, Joseph Skaro and Laura (Al) Wachowski.  Cherished great-grandfather of Alexandria, Jasmine, James III, Anamarie, Victor, Seth, Penelope, Jackson, Jack, Henry and Colette and great-great grandfather of Mario, Aaliyah, Christian, Jeremiah, Angelina, Adrian, and Xavier. Dear son of the late John and late Juana Castro Sandoval. Loving brother of the late Eusebio (late Lily) Castro, late Esther (Michael) Quiroz, late Raymond Castro, late Margaret(late Rudy) Davila, late Jesse (Cecilia) Castro, Leonard (Martha) Castro, Mary (late Edward) Ryan, late Steve (Judy) Castro, Teresa Mendoza Beas, Conception (late Humberto) Vela, Guadalupe Castro, Socorro (Jesse) Espinosa, late John Castro, Jr., Henry (Francis) Castro, Carmen (Samuel) Cortes and Joseph (Susan) Castro. Fond uncle of many nieces and nephews and godfather to many godchildren.  U.S. Army Corporal, Korean War where he was the recipient of two Purple Hearts, the Bronze Star with a “V” for Valor and The Korean Service Ribbon with four Stars. Member of American Legion South Deering Post #1238. Retired employee of the City of Chicago and longtime active member of Our lady of Guadalupe Church in South Chicago, a upstanding community leader involved with the youth and many local organizations. Visitation Sunday, January 5, 2020 from 1-8 p.m. Funeral services Monday, January 6, 2020 at 8:45 a.m. from the Elmwood Chapel 11200 S. Ewing Ave. Chicago to Our Lady of Guadalupe Church.
