Passed away on October 21, 2019

Paul E. Zimmerman age 63 of Cedar Lake, passed away at home after a short illness.  Paul was a life long resident of Cedar Lake.  He is survived by his wife Sandi of 40 years, son Adam of Denver, CO, and mother Anne Zimmerman of Cedar Lake. The Cedar Lake Police Department was very supportive to their brother in his time of need. If not for these wonderful people, our journey would have been more difficult.  Thank you.

Paul served as a Cedar Lake Police Officer for 26 years from 1982 – 2008.  After retiring from the Cedar Lake Police Department, he began a NEW Career for the State of Indiana as an Indiana Gaming Agent.  He served there for 11 years until his death.  Paul enjoyed snow skiing, water skiing and sailing.  Paul’s biggest JOY was helping people.  Paul was never too busy to lend a helping hand.  He was OUR Macgyver. He will be GREATLY Missed!

A Memorial fund in memory of Paul is set at Demotte State Bank 10119 W. 133rd Ave. Cedar Lake, Indiana 46303 to benefit two of Paul’s biggest passions; the DARE Program which he has participated in for over 23 years and Camp Tecumseh, which allows children to experience pioneer heritage in a hands-on environment, which he was involved in for over 25 years.  Donations can be sent directly to Elmwood Funeral Chapel at 9931 Lincoln Plaza Way; Cedar Lake, Indiana 46303 and will be forwarded to the family.  A Celebration of Paul's life will be held on Saturday, November 30, 2019 from 2:00 pm until time of Service at 4:00 pm at St. Michael the Archangel National Catholic Church 6629 W. 133rd Ave. Cedar Lake, Indiana 46303.  For more information 219-374-9300.
