Irene ‘Smokey” Gendek, (nee Danielewski), age 91, lifelong of South Chicago passed away on August 24, 2019. Beloved wife of the late Erwin “Cooper” Gendek. Loving mother of Gregory, late Allen (Marva) Gendek and Cindy (Tony) Rusiniak. Devoted grandmother of Meridith (Shawn Crutcher) Gendek, Christopher (Ashley) Gendek and Angela Rusiniak. Cherished great-grandmother of Emmitt, Delaney and Wrigley. Preceded in death by 5 sisters and 2 brothers. Fond aunt of many nieces and nephews. Lifelong dedicated parishioner of St. Bronislava Church as a member of Rosary Society, St. Theresa Club and President of the Senior Citizens Club. Visitation Thursday 3-9 p.m. Funeral Friday, August 30, 2019 at 10:15 a.m. from the Elmwood Chapel 11200 S. Ewing Ave. Chicago to St. Andrew the Apostle Church.
