Georgia L. Galecki, 72, of Cedar Lake, Indiana, passed away July 17th, 2019, with her loving family by her side. She was born to the late John and Veronica Machusek on April 3rd, 1947 in Chicago, Illinois. Georgia graduated from Bowen High School in Chicago in 1965. She married Paul Galecki on October 1st, 1966, and they lived together in the Chicago suburbs for over thirty years before relocating to Cedar Lake, Indiana.
Georgia is survived by two children: Steven Galecki and his wife Gabrielle of Lowell and Wendy Galecki and her fiancé L. Scott Vandeusen of Cedar Lake. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren: Kaitlyn Thomas, Summer Broz, Lukas Galecki-Shofroth, Payton Galecki and Parker Galecki along with 3 great-grandchildren: Benjamin, Levi and Adrian. Also survived by her sisters, sister in-law and many nieces, nephews, friends and her loving and loyal fur baby: Tia. Georgia was predeceased by her twin grandsons: Maximus and Nolan on July 12th, 2006. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and homemaker, Georgia was a remarkable cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends, most especially over the holidays. She had a smile that would light up an entire room, a hug that could take away all sadness and was loved by everyone who ever met her. She had a great appreciation of music, especially from the 60s-90s, with Lionel Richie being her top favorite. Georgia was immensely proud of her family and leaves behind many beautiful memories with loved ones and friends. As her health declined, she often sang parts of songs that she remembered especially "You are my sunshine" with her daughter.
A Memorial service to be shared with her beloved husband will be held on Saturday, August 10, 2019 from 12:00 noon until time of service at 2:30 pm at the Elmwood Funeral Chapel and Crematory - Cedar Lake 9931 Lincoln Plaza Way, (1/2 block south of 133rd Ave. at Lincoln Plaza Way). The family insists that people make donations in support of dementia research, in lieu of sending flowers.
