Robert H. Brooks

Passed away on May 25, 2019


Robert H. Brooks, age 80.  Passed away peacefully at home alongside his loving wife and guardian dog Boton on Saturday, May 25, 2019.  Born April 9, 1939 in Hammond, IN.  Robert was a Christian man that lived a very giving and rewarding life.  He graduated from Hammond Tech in 1958 and enlisted in the U.S. Army National Guard the same year.  He retired as an E7 Sergeant First Class in 1999.  Additionally, he was employed as a journeyman welder at Inland Steel Co. now Mittal Steel until 1992, constructing tools and decorative pieces.  Robert was a longtime member of Suncrest Christian Church of St. John and the Indiana Harbor Masonic Lodge 686.

Robert, better known as “Bob” to family and friends was a jack of all trades and took pride in building his own log home in Kentucky.  He enjoyed riding his motorcycle and taking long cross country trips with his wife Patricia Rowe Brooks.  He was also survived by his stepson Clifton C. (MaryJo Hoole) Baker as well as grandchildren Clifton Robert (Betsey Olwine), AmyJo Baker (Christian) Nielsen, and great grandson Soren Nielson.  Additionally his stepdaughter Dixie Lee Baker Wierman as well as granddaughters Stacey Elizabeth Wierman and Emily Wierman. 

His enduring care for his loved ones and sense of humor will be dearly missed by all those whose lives he touched.  Visitation Wednesday, May 29, 2019 from 9:00 am until time of service at 12:00 noon with a Masonic Service at 11:00 am at the Elmwood Funeral Chapel 11300 W. 97th Ln. (1/2 block west of US 41/Wicker Ave. at 97th Ln) St. John.  Interment Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens.
